Joel Kramer is a filmmaker and archaeologist known for his work with Expedition Bible, where he explores significant biblical sites to deepen understanding of Old Testament narratives.
Education and FIeld Work
Kramer earned an MA in Archaeology from the University of the Holy Land under Dr. Shimon Gibson, graduating summa cum laude. Over more than a decade of field work he served in every excavation role from digger to supervisory staff. His excavation experience includes the Mount Zion Dig in Jerusalem, the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, Khirbet el-Maqatir, Suba, El-Qanabiz, and Et-Tell. He currently serves as Staff Archaeologist at Shepherds Theological Seminary, where he supports the Department of Biblical Archaeology and provides field opportunities for students. He is based in Amman, Jordan.
Documentary Work
Kramer produced the Expedition Bible documentary series, bringing on-location archaeological content to a broad evangelical audience. His films include Jericho Unearthed (2008), The Jesus Tomb Unmasked (2007), and The Bible vs the Book of Mormon (2005), among others. His work combines site-specific filming with interviews with working archaeologists, making technical findings accessible to non-specialist audiences.

Kramer authored Where God Came Down: The Archaeological Evidence (Innovo, 2020), examining the intersection of archaeological findings and the biblical narrative, and Beyond Fear: A Harrowing Journey Across New Guinea (Lyons Press, 1995).
